Worcestershire County Cricket Club hosted the Level Playing Field Midlands Forum for the first time.
The event brought together disabled fans, club representatives and other key stakeholders, to discuss accessibility.
Opening remarks were made by Ashley Giles MBE, Chief Executive Officer at Worcestershire and 2005 Ashes winner, with Anxiety and mental health specialist, Claire Henson, providing a talk as guest speaker.
Transport For All led a session as guest speakers, as the charities look to work together to combat the impact of inaccessible public transport as a rising barrier to attending live sport.
The role of personal assistants/companions was at the centre of the day’s other sessions, as will also be the case for subsequent regional forums in the North and Wales.
Level Playing Field chief executive, Owain Davies, said: “We are so grateful to our hosts, contributors and attendees for making the Level Playing Field Midlands Forum another successful event.
“The appetite to learn and wealth of knowledge in the room, made it a hugely productive day.
“Feedback continues to show the value people take from our regional forums and the opportunity to network with other disabled fans and industry professionals is at the forefront of that.
“I am therefore very excited to create more of those opportunities across the remainder of this regional forum tour, while continuing to develop our understanding of those stakeholders.”
Level Playing Field will share details on upcoming events in the coming months.
