Sutton United have introduced a service called the ‘U’s Memory’ programme which is intended to help people who might become disorientated if they lose contact with their friends or families or just get confused by the crowds and noise of matchday.

With U’s Memories, fans are issued with a support pack which consists of various items to help supporters with memory difficulties feel as comfortable as possible on a matchday.

The pack includes a wristband with the spectator’s seat number, another wristband that says, ‘I may need help, thank you’, a simple stadium map with a guide to seat numbers and locations of toilets and snack bars, and a memory sheet with prompts to start conversations about famous events in club history (can be tailored to the visiting club).

U’s Memories is also available to away supporters on a match-by-match basis and is another great example of how clubs across the football pyramid are thinking outside the box to improve the matchday experience for disabled sports fans.

If you’re planning a trip to Sutton United and either you, a friend or a family member can experience memory loss or become disorientated please email info@suttonunited.net for further details.
