Owain Davies has been appointed as Chief Executive of Level Playing Field with effect from 1st January 2018.
LPF Chair, Tony Taylor, said: “The Trustees of Level Playing Field are delighted to announce the appointment of Owain Davies as our new Chief Executive. We had an extremely strong shortlist of candidates to consider which reflects the regard in which our organisation is held. We have seen his performance at first hand and he brings a wealth of experience to LPF. Owain’s commitment to our guiding principles and objectives, combined with a determination to drive the organisation forward were key factors in his appointment. We are really excited about the future and look forward to working with Owain.”
Speaking earlier today (2nd January 2018), Owain said, “It is with much enthusiasm and passion that I take on the position of Chief Executive at Level Playing Field. I am very proud of the work the charity does to ensure disabled sport fans are represented and have equal opportunity to enjoy live sport”.
“Disabled people today still experience an inaccessible culture where ‘access’ is at times an afterthought. Sport has a huge responsibility to lead change and promote inclusion in society. In recent times we have seen positive steps made towards the enhancement of access for disabled sports fans, no more so than the ‘Premier League’ pledge. This development sends a strong message of intent”.
“However, there is still much more that can be done across all sports and across all leagues before we have achieved our mission. As the new Chief Executive, I am determined that we continue to work towards our guiding principle of removing barriers that prevent access for disabled sports fans“.
