Responses to the 2024 Level Playing Field Annual Fan Survey surpassed 2000, meaning it was engaged with more by disabled sports fans than any of the charity’s previous surveys.
Analysis will now be done on the results, to provide an informative overall report, in addition to individual datasets for relevant clubs, venues and governing bodies.
These reports will help identify key areas of progress and those that require urgent attention, at both a national and local level. Those looking to make changes in relation to findings from their individual reports will be able to receive support from Level Playing Field in doing so.
The charity is thankful to all disabled sports fans from England, Wales and Scotland, who contributed feedback on their matchday experiences, to the largest survey of its kind.
The overall results will be published publicly, later this year. This builds on the previous annual fan survey results, from 2021, 2022 and 2023. With a record number of responses, this set of results is expected to be even more informative, while also displaying trends in access and inclusion across the four-year period.
Level Playing Field chief executive, Owain Davies, said: “Breaking the 2000 mark with this year’s survey responses is very pleasing and represents our year-on-year growth in this area.
“Ultimately, it shows a desire from disabled fans to share their experiences for the betterment of access and inclusion overall. In many cases, that will be in relation to removing barriers they face, but we have also seen many examples of fans wanting to share improvements to their matchdays and give credit to those responsible.
“We are very grateful to all disabled sports fans who took part and all organisations that helped us to circulate the survey.
“The results will inform our own work and the guidance we offer to clubs and governing bodies, with an increased dataset improving their reliability.
“We look forward to sharing them publicly later in the year and encourage individual fans and disabled supporters’ associations to make use of our report and reach out to Level Playing Field for support in pushing for greater access and inclusion.”
The survey is now closed, but any disabled supporters who would like to discuss their experiences or find out further information, are encouraged to contact Level Playing Field.
