Manchester City reverse parking charges decision

Level Playing Field is pleased that Manchester City have reversed their decision to introduce additional parking charges for disabled fans.

This follows campaigning from Manchester City Disabled Supporters’ Association, in coordination with other supporter groups.

Level Playing Field fans liaison officer, Liam Bird, said: “This decision is vital to ensuring that Manchester City continue to provide levels of access which are among the best in the country.

“Parking is a vital access requirement for many disabled fans, and it is important that the whole matchday experience has now been considered.

“In any decisions on pricing, the necessity of parking for many disabled fans should be considered, as well as additional disability related costs to attending live sport, as highlighted in past Level Playing Field surveys.

“I would like to commend Manchester City Disabled Supporters’ Associations for their efforts as a critical friend of the club and their fellow supporters’ groups for working alongside them to raise the need for this to be addressed.

“We now hope to see other clubs follow Manchester City’s decision to review their parking policies for disabled fans and provide more inclusive match days.”
