Carlisle United celebrated and promoted #OurMatchday at Brunton Park last weekend, involving various groups from the local community.
This included a guard of honour made up of children who are Carlisle United fans and who have a range of different disabilities, a group from Eden Mencap holding an LPF banner and members of Young People First: Access All Areas joining in a penalty shoot-out at half time.
Tarn Simmons, Ticket Office Manager said on behalf of Carlisle United “The links between different disability groups within the county gets stronger and stronger each year after being involved with Level Playing Fields Weeks of Action. We are proud to be involved in a variety of disabled groups and activities within our local community and especially with a group of children you have formed a disabled football team which was set up two years ago which helps children of all disabilities be involved in football and just allows them to play. It gives them a chance to grow in confidence and take part in different football tournaments just like any other child would do. We are also extremely exciting for one our Mental Health team boys who will be helping represent England at this year’s 2018 Mencap games for the 11-a-side team being held in Switzerland.”
