Disabled Everton fan, George Shaw, wins Facebook fan award

Evertonian George Shaw has been voted Fan of the Year at the Facebook Football Awards

The recognition caps an exciting week for the nine-year-old, after he also picked up the Supporter of the Season prize at Everton’s Supporters’ Club Awards. George, who has cerebral palsy, was invited to Goodison Park by Gerard Deulofeu in January after the winger spotted a video of the Ellesmere Port youngster scoring a goal at his local park on social media. He then took to the pitch at half-time of the Blues’ game against Swansea City, netting a goal at the Gwladys Street end that fans later voted the Club’s Goal of the Month. Now George has topped another fan poll – this time on a global scale – to scoop the Daily Mirror-sponsored accolade.  On receiving his award, George said: “Thank you for making me the Fan of the Year. I’ve had a brilliant experience, Everton have been great and I hope my journey hasn’t ended yet.”As part of his prize for winning January’s Goal of the Month, George will be the Club’s guest at Thursday’s End of Season Awards at St George’s Hall to present the Goal of the Season trophy. Well done, George!
