Crystal Palace Disabled Supporters Association held its first AGM along with a social evening in Speroni’s Restaurant at Selhurst Park.

Over 50 disabled supporters, carers, family and friends attended the event.  It was the perfect opportunity for the disabled community at Crystal Palace to get together and meet likeminded supporters.

Committee members

David Smith          Chairman

Tony Game            Vice Chairman

Karen Green           Press and Player Liaison Officer

were re-elected to their existing positions.

Two new posts had been created and

Martin Benson        Social Media Officer

Caroline Bland       Supporter Liaison Officer

were elected to these positions.

David also gave an overview of the aims and successes of the DSA.

To the supporter’s delight, the surprise guests for the evening were DSA Patron, Goalkeeper Julian Speroni and Danny Young, Kit Man and Player Liaison Officer.  They received a rapturous welcome and a thunderous round of applause.  Everyone was thrilled to welcome the club legend and valued member of the backroom team, who put a smile on everyone’s faces.

Julian and Danny then took part in a Q and A session with supporters firing questions at the pair, who gave an insight to life at the training ground, their favourite managers and who chooses the music in the changing room pre- match. They have now been nicknamed the “Dynamic Duo” due to their hilarious answers

Jules and Danny then drew the raffle.  Prizes were donated by Julian, Danny, Crystal Palace FC, Wyevale Purley Way Garden Centre and Marks and Spencer, Croydon.

Afterwards Speroni met the fans and signed programmes and posed for countless photos.  So many of the DSA members commented on what a memorable evening it had been and how wonderful Julian and Danny had been.

The association was set up with a view to give supporters with disabilities a clear channel to work together with the club.  The DSA aims to resolve concerns, complaints and suggest improvements for the club which may impact on the match day experience of supporters with disabilities at Selhurst Park.
