Blackpool Chairman’s Alleged Discriminatory Remarks – Level Playing Field Response

Level Playing Field is aware of the alleged discriminatory remarks that have been attributed to Karl Oyston, Chairman of Blackpool Football Club, in a text message exchange with a supporter.

In response to the allegations, Level Playing Field Chair, Joyce Cook OBE said: ”We are deeply concerned by the alleged disability abuse towards a fan by Blackpool Chairman, Karl Oyston. We understand that the FA has since opened an investigation and it is only right that we give the FA time to complete this enquiry before responding further. Disability abuse and hate crime is as damaging and vile as any other forms of discriminatory abuse and at a time when we are seeking fair and proper treatment for disabled football fans by professional clubs it is especially disappointing to see these headlines.”
