Arsenal awarded Changing Places People’s Choice Award

Arsenal have been recognised for being the first Premier League club to install a fully accessible disabled toilet with the inaugral Changing Places People’s Choice Award.

The award was presented at Arsenal’s Disabled Supporters End of Season Social by Leroy Binns, who has a learning disability, and Lucy Hemingway of Aveso. Arsenal were the clear winners after nominations by campaigners and followers of Changing Places.

Changing Places toilets, installed at the Emirates in April 2014, are larger than a standard accessible toilet and include a height-adjustable bench, a hoist and room for up two personal assistants.

Alun Francis, Disability Liaision Officer at Arsenal said of the award, “We are all incredibly proud to be the first Premier League stadium to install a Changing Places toilet. Arsenal values everyone connected to the Club and we want all visitors to the Emirates Stadium to feel like they belong here and enjoy an equal matchday experience without the stress that standard disabled toilets can cause.”
