Access Audits and Design Appraisals

Access Audits:

Level Playing Field offers professional access audits, which are all conducted by NRAC (National Register of Access Consultants) Auditors, meaning that you can be confident that our auditors have the experience, training and adequate insurance in place. Our audits are competitively priced in line with our charitable status.

We are the leading experts in the industry and have a wealth of knowledge and experience. We have worked with clubs of all levels (from Premiership to non-league) and across a variety of sports.

Our access audits look at all areas of the spectator journey and take a range of different disabled people’s requirements into account. Although, our auditors have personal experience of disability, our audits will report from a pan-disability perspective. Our auditors will look at purchasing tickets, planning the journey, getting to the venue, spectator viewing areas and associated services and facilities.

The client will then receive a detailed report with the findings of the access audit, recognising where things are being done well and recommendations for improvements, where necessary. The recommendations will also have a prioritisation category, which can assist in planning capital expenditure and deciding the top priorities from the access audit report.

The access audit report is accompanied by an access audit action plan. The plan will enable the client to quickly and clearly see the recommendations and to assign certain staff members/departments for each action.

Dave Parker, Safety Officer at Bristol Rovers FC said, “As part of our EFL Equality Code of Practice audit we decided to obtain an access audit. I had previously received great support from LPF when seeking to set up a DSA and so decided to use them. It is a real minefield with plenty of NRAC accredited providers but many had no experience of stadia. LPF ticked all the boxes and when the auditors attended they spent two days on their work, one of which was a match day.

The subsequent report was extremely detailed, well set out and easy to digest. I would have no hesitation in recommending LPF, super service at a fair price.”

Natalie Gradwell from Fleetwood Town FC said, “Level Playing Field provided us with an eye opening, in depth report of our stadium. They have provided us with a greater understanding of the needs of our disabled supporters which has significantly guided us in our ongoing mission of improving our facilities and service.”

Design Appraisals:

Level Playing Field offers design appraisals on projects ranging from a car park layout, a new Reception area, accessible toilets, Changing Places facilities, spectator seating, signage and colour schemes to a new stand or a complete stadium. Having an experienced access auditor as part of the design team from the very beginning will ensure an inclusive design and help prevent having to make costly and unsightly alterations post-project.

We work closely with the project team offering our expert support and advice at each stage; acknowledging the industry standards and also looking at best practice and future proofing the designs.
