The Justin Campaign is about to develop and launch a new arts project together with our associate artists Shorvon & Hunter and I am writing to you to find out if you would like to be part of the project.
In 2008 the artists began a research project into the nature and extent of Homophobia in British Football culture. The first step in this investigation was a short performance titled ‘Fab Football’ staged at White Hart Lane. The performance involved two gay men walking hand in hand to a match between Tottenham Hotspur and Blackburn Rovers. http://www.shorvonandhunter.com/fabfootball.html
The artists have since begun to work closely with The Justin Campaign and have recently embarked on a new project, ‘Fab Football 2.0’.
The artists, with the support of the campaign, wish to begin collating images of LBGT football fans and players from around the country holding hands or showing affection in a football environment.
The images will then be posted up on a virtual online gallery, along with information on the match, place and time that the image was taken. This gallery will then be the basis for further art works developed by Shorvon & Hunter.
Before the launch of the online gallery (which will be updated as images are sent to the artists by the public), the artists (along with the Campaign) are reaching out to a small network of fans and friends in the hope that they can provide images to ‘kick start the work’. These pictures will form the first bank of images uploaded onto the gallery before an open public call for submissions is sent out.
If you would be interested in being part of this please just send a quick email to Chris Vanja chris@thejustincampaign.com to get more information about how to proceed.
