Blind and Partially Sighted Football in Manchester

Submitted on Wednesday 20 July 2011 by Jackie Newing

There are International and National Blind Football Leagues and a National league for Visually Impaired adults.

Volunteers across the Greater Manchester Community have been working hard to form a Club.

We meet weekly and provide a fun facility to socialise, train in football skills and hold in-house competitions and matches.

Once player skills are developed, the longer term aim is for dedicated and talented individuals to form main teams and enter the existing Leagues. The rest of the Club will continue to operate at the recreational level but the two parts will run along-side and support each other.

This project is open to men and women aged 18 years and over who are partially sighted or blind and living in Greater Manchester. Everyone will be able to share in the sportsmanship and camaraderie of The Manchester Blind & V I Football Club.

For more information please contact the organiser Ruth Walmsley on 07989 726 668, email Ruth.Walmsley@Sky.com.

Alternatively Co-Founder and player, Glen Sheader can be contacted on 07917 865 026.
